Leather Sewing Machine
There really is no home leather sewing machine
perse', however, that does not mean you cannot sew on leather
or that you cannot find a very useful leather sewing
machine.
Virtually, any sewing machine can be used as a
leather sewing machine and peform with more or less difficulty
on light weight leather and vinyl products.
Unfortunately, not all sewing machines are
designed for this purpose and not all sewing machines are
strong enough to hold up.
What should you look for in a leather sewing
machine?
1. Rugged design. Solid construction is
vital. Cheap home sewing machines may sew for an hour on
leather, but it is certain that they will break down and
potentially be ruined by continued use as a leather sewing
machine.
2. Basic Design. Ask yourself, does it
make sense to do a long of leather sewing on a $12,000
Bernina. I don't thinks so. The fancier the machine
the better it is for creative sewing, but even though it can do
the job, it probably should not.
3. Semi-Industrial. There are many
machines designed specifically to handle heavier
materials. Ask your local sewing machine dealer what
machines he would suggest for your leather sewing machine.
