Antique Sewing Machine Table

An Antique Sewing Machine Table is a specific type of furniture that was intended to support a sewing machine.  The word workings were often very elaborate, but more commonly the tables were designed more for funtion than appearance.  Frequently, they were cheaply constructed using laminated wood.

The most common Antique Sewing Machine Table is a cabinet designed to work with a treadle sewing machine.  The top was usually wood, it came with one or two side drawers, and was suppored by cast iron legs.

As time evolved, tables became more and more like furniture, but until recent times they remained largely functional.
